A superhero is a special type of crime-fighter. They distinguish themselves by wearing unique, recognizable costumes, using unique alias and (in almost all cases) concealing their real identity from the public.

Despite the name, they don't necessarily need to have superpowers: while many superheroes do have extraordinary and/or supernatural abilities (which may or may not be normal for their species), others rely mostly on special gadgets and other forms of technology, combat techniques and intelligence to take down their opponents.

The superhero typically operates individually (as a vigilante) and/or as part of a superhero team, but there have been cases of entire police forces whose members can be considered superheroes, such as the Green Lantern Corps or even Star Command.
