Combaticons are a subspecies of military vehicle-themed Cybertronians from the planet Cybertron.

Biology[]

While also being a subgroup of Decepticons, Combaticons consider themselves a species unto themselves.

Anatomy[]

Combaticons have similar biology to other Cybertronians, except that they transform into military vehicles such as mobile anti-aircraft trucks, battle tanks, combat support jeeps, assault helicopters, and even space shuttles.

Powers and abilities[]

Combaticons share many of the same abilities as other Cybertronians.

Select Combaticons can combine to form a combiner known as Bruticus. Alternatively, Combaticons can combine with other Cybertronians to form combiners such as Abomenaticus, Scramble 7, and the Decepticon Super Scramble.

Culture and society[]

Combaticons are a unit of fierce Decepticon soldiers, operating with (mostly) military precision under the watchful eye of the tactically brilliant Onslaught.

Combaticons are generally considered to be the mortal enemies of the Protectobots, as well as the subject of Shockwave's first combiner experiment for the Decepticons.

Notes[]

  • According to unlockable concept art in the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen game, the Combaticon designs are based on Generation 1 Combaticons.
    • The Combaticon Scout design is based on Generation 1 Swindle due to both of the turning into combat support jeeps, though the Scout is specifically modeled after a modified Hummer HX concept vehicle.
    • The Combaticon Sniper design is based on Generation 1 Vortex due to both of them turning into assault helicopters, though the Sniper is specifically modeled after a RAH-66 Comanche.
    • The Combaticon Warrior design is based on Generation 1 Onslaught due to both of them turning into mobile anti-aircraft trucks, though the Warrior is specifically modeled after an M1126 Stryker ICV with missile launchers.
  • The Combaticon Warrior "appears" as a playable design for the Recruit in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: Decepticons, being listed as Heavy.
  • The Combaticon Scout design's vehicle mode is similar to the NEST Hummer HX vehicles used in the Shanghai operation in the Revenge of the Fallen film.
  • In the console version of Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, the Combaticon Scout and Warrior designs are reused for Shadow Raider Rocket Soldiers and Titans
    • Likewise, the Combaticon Warrior design is modified with arm blades similar to Dino/Mirage's from Transformers: Dark of the Moon for Shadow Raider Leapers.
    • In the Nintendo 3DS version, Shadow Raiders with the Combaticon Scout design are identified as "Assault Soldiers" while those with the Combaticon Warrior design are identified as "Heavy Soldiers".
  • According to concept artist Ken Christiansen, the Combaticon Warrior design almost did not make it into the game. This was due to Hasbro requesting the character be redesigned to resemble the Transformers 2007 toyline design for Wreckage, despite the fact developer Luxoflux had already submitted the final design for the Combaticon Warrior and there was no time or money left to do a new design. Fortunately, Luxoflux was able to convince Hasbro otherwise.[1]
  • According to Josh Nizzi's Instagram account, the live-action Transformers film series incarnations of Onslaught and Long Haul are twin brothers.[2]
    • This comment justifies why Onslaught's on-screen appearance in Transformers: The Last Knight is a modified version of Long Haul from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
