The Elathans were a race of tall, leather-skinned aliens was known for its cruelty and size, but not for its intelligence. Their thick legs end in broad, grasping toes, and their small heads were dwarfed by their large, drooping ears. They were native to the Outer Rim planet Elatha. They were first encountered by the Jedi Knights who served aboard the Chu'unthor, more than three centuries before the Battle of Yavin. This was one of many events which served to promote the mission of the Chu'unthor.
