Dracs are a reptilian humanoid race from planet Dracon which fought a war against Humans in the late 21st century.

Biology[]

Drac2

Dracs are near-Human beings. They are amphibious, thus making themselves excellent swimmers since having evolved on a planet that was largely made up of water. They have yellow-brown scaled skin, hands and feet with three fingers and toes on each with claws. They also have no nose or ears on their heads, solid structures inside their mouths instead of individual teeth, and a small tail protruding from down their lower backs. Because of their appearances, they are often given the derogatory term "toad face" by Humans.

The lifespan for a Drac can vary. A newborn can grow at an accelerated rate compared to Human children. Once born, a baby Drac has no spike-like scales and has a smooth body with no claws on its fingers and toes. As it grows older, the scales become more prominent and the claws are grown. The older a Drac becomes, the broader and longer the scales become.

The reproductive organs are located inside the lower torso area behind the abdomen. It is often a weak spot for melee attacks. If a Drac falls while pregnant on that area, it can result in the loss of their offspring.

Reproduction[]

Because of being hermaphrodites, Dracs are capable of reproducing offspring by themselves. For a Drac, giving birth is not a choice; they all do it spontaneously at some point of their lives. A Drac can reproduce as many offspring as it can depending on how long it can live until its passing.

During incubation, the Drac fetus is attached to two umbilical cords. This is likely to help facilitate the rapid growth. The parent has to consume enough sustenance for itself and the growing fetus.

Through the process, the Drac parent is in intense pain with aching. It can barely move while heavy from the pregnancy. Upon birth, the parent's abdomen must be opened to allow the newborn Drac to be born successfully before it suffocates inside. Some parents die from complications during this stage.

Culture and society[]

The Dracs believe that everything exists as an all-living spirit. This Spirit directs the creature and his actions and deeds. The spirit of a living being determined, whether it is good or evil. The Drac also believe that the mind has an inner strength that is until his creatures dies.

Religion[]

Drac Talman

Drac Talman

Most Dracs seem to follow the teachings of The Talman. Like the Human text called the Bible, It contains stories and teachings. Among these include include the words of the legendary philosopher Shizumaat.

Among the teachings of Shizumaat includes the idea of "Truth is truth".

Government[]

The Holy Council on Dracon is the dominant governmental force for the Dracs. The Drac Empire seems to lack a separation of church and state, giving the impression that the government is dominated by a theocratic apparatus very similar to the Roman Catholic Church. Though it is not known what the term would be used for the head of the Holy Council. It is likely composed of the most wise and experienced elders among the Dracs.

Technology[]

Drac1

The Dracs have a high technical understanding.

Jeriba Shigan tells his human compatriot Willis E. Davidge that they have colonized the galaxy at least one-thousand years before humanity.

Their spaceships have a flat, plate-like shape and are equipped with a powerful drive. They are equipped with an emergency capsule which functions as the cockpit, and when struck down the pilot can eject the capsule and possibly guide it to a safe location. An emergency food supply is attached to the capsule in the likelihood of a prolonged stranding.

Lineage[]

Every Drac is tied to a lineage that has spanned since the formation of their homeworld Dracon. By tradition when a young Drac is to join with its society, their parent must recite their lineage so to be accepted. The firstborn carries the ancestral line while later-born Dracs from the same parent must create their own lines.

The Line of Jeriba is one such an example of a lineage that has to be presented to the Holy Council. For this line, five names have been passed down. Shigan explained this to Davidge during their stranding on the planet Fyrine IV, Shigan later revealing that it was pregnant with its only child Zammis.

  • Shigan
  • Gothig
  • Haesni
  • Ty
  • Zammis

It is indicated that the names have been served under many occupations among the Drac people.

  • Shigan - served by great soldiers, scholars, students of philosophy, and several priests
  • Zammis - served by scientists, teachers, and explorers

When the child is presented before the Holy Council, the lines are recited and compared to by an archive that also carries the lines. Their occupations are also indicated along with the history of their deeds.

  • Shigan - fighter pilot
  • Gothig - music teacher, trained at the Shimuram, mentor to Nem Datzizh, Tuscor Perravane and many lesser musicians
  • Haesni - ship manufacturer
