The Filar-Nitzans were a race of gaseous beings which could form its body into a number of configurations. Native to the planet known only as DNX-N1, the Filar-Nitzan were called "cloud demons" or "gas devils" by the few beings who knew of them. Their coloration was varied, ranging from blue to green and yellow, and their eyes were always the opposite color from their bodies. Thus, a green-bodied Filar-Nitzan had red eyes. Xenobiologists of the New Republic believed that there were less than 400 individual Filar-Nitzan alive in the galaxy.
