The Paulans are a primitive alien species which originated in the oceans of Paula (YTS-5456111-003-II; Metasoft volume).

The Paulans are nautilus-like floating shelled creatures, equipped with extensive exoskeletal limbs and antennae.

The Paulans have a pre-industrial culture and live in a single landlocked ocean. Most tools are made from the local equivalent of wood and chemically baked clay. Due to their limited strength and aquatic life, it is unlikely they will develop fire and industrialization.
