Talpaedans are a humanoid armadillo-like species from Poiana Lüncas,[1] a desert planet in the Andromeda Galaxy.

Biology[]

Anatomy[]

Talpaedans are 10-feet-tall robotic armadillo-like aliens with heads that look similar to a Greek Corinthian helmet, hard armored skin, jackhammer-like arms with grey or gold pistons, grey or gold tails, four-fingered hands, and three-toed feet. Some of them have grey or gold shoulder bolts. They also have grey, partially translucent blood.

Although they traditionally have yellow skin, Talpedans can come in other colors. For example, Talpaedans from Dimension 23 have blue skin and Negative Armodrillo has red skin.

Ecology[]

Talpaedans are preyed on by Slammoids, who can also dig underground at a fast rate.

Powers and abilities[]

Talpedans have incredible digging capabilities thanks to the powerful organic pneumatic drills built into their forearms. They can transform their hands into drills to help themselves burrow underground and move through solid earth and rocks. A Talpedan's drill hands can be very useful in battle, being powerful enough to cause a lot of pain to a Galilean.

Talpaedans are heavily armored, making them durable enough to withstand attacks from many powerful opponents and being thrown through walls and other solid surfaces. They are also immune to an Aerophibian's neuroshock blasts.

Talpaedans have incredible strength, being able to destroy Dimension 12 robots with ease, lift a Mucilator, and fight on-par with Trombipulor's Species.

Talpedans can create destructive earthquakes and vibrations capable of collapsing buildings into rubble by either placing or slamming their hands on the ground before pumping their jackhammer pistons. Similarly, they can propel themselves into the air using this procedure.

Talpadans can create shock waves powerful enough to blast away a Crabdozer with a single punch and launch objects around the same size as an Atrocian that they are holding using their jackhammer arms.

Talpadans have the capability to cause a magnitude 10 earthquake depending where they tried, such as fault lines on tectonic plates.[2]

Weaknesses[]

Certain weapons can cause a Talpedan's nervous system to go out-of-control, making them unable to stop vibrating their arms.

A Talpaedan's drills are in effective against a species with great durability, such as Tetramands and Zaroffians.

There is a clear limit to a Talpaedan's durability, as they are vulnerable to a Slammoid's acid spit.[3] They can also be incapacitated by either electricity or quills fired by Argit's Species.

Talpaedans can be suffocated if a large amount of matter, including Nanochip drones, covers their bodies and compresses them hard enough.

Talpaedans are unable to generate earthquakes on certain surfaces, such as bedrock.[2]

Culture and society[]

Technology[]

Talpaedans have developed machinery capable of resisting impacts.

Notable members[]

  • Armodrillo: An Omnitrix transformation used by Ben Tennyson
    • Toolboxx: An alternate version of Armodrillo used by the Ben Tennyson of Dimension 23.
    • Negative Armodrillo: An alternate version of Armodrillo used by Albedo.
  • Andreas: A Talpaedan that had been captured by Aggregor and Armodrillo's genetic donor.

Half-qualifiers[]

  • Ultimate Kevin: 17-year-old Kevin Levin of the Prime Timeline transformed into an amalgamation of every alien available in the Ultimatrix prior to traveling to the Forge of Creation, including Armodrillo. He would later absorb all of Ultimate Aggregor's powers, such as those he acquired from Andreas.
  • Ultimate Aggregor: Aggregor transformed into an amalgamation of all five aliens he collected, including Andreas.
  • No Watch Ben: An alternate version of Ben Tennyson from a universe without an Omnitrix transformed into Armodrillo using the Prime Timeline Omnitrix.
  • Skurd: Skurd has been able to create a drill using Talpaedan DNA.

Notes[]

  • The name Talpaedan is derived from "Talpidae", a family of subterranean mammals that includes moles and desmans.
  • Talpaedans share a similar arm design to Big O from The Big O, whereas their jackhammer powers are similar to an attack commonly performed by humanoid Mini-Cassettes.
  • In Ultimate Alien, Poiana Lüncas was described as a planet that had been jack-hammered into a cluster of irregular moon-sized rocks by the Talpaedans.[1] This has been retconned in Omniverse, as Poiana Lüncas is now an intact desert planet.
  • Poiana Lüncas was established as the Talpaedans' home planet in the fifty-third issue of the Cartoon Network Action Pack comic series, released on December 1, 2010. However, on April 14, 2011, Ben 10 Wiki user Reece Philippe Villamonte started the fan misconception that the Talpaedans' home planet was known as "Terraexcava".
    • When Terraexcava received a page of its own on April 30, 2011, Ben 10 Wiki user Sillifactu cited Bandai's website and fan site Ben10Toys.net as sources. Upon further investigation, archived pages from the Bandai site do not seem to have any information regarding Armodrillo's home planet. Therefore, Poiana Lüncas is the true name of the Talpaedans' home planet.
  • One of the trophies seen on Khyber's ship is a Talpaedan arm.
  • Talpaedans have been confirmed to exist in the Ben 10 reboot continuity. However, while Armodrillo's DNA is currently not in the Omnitrix, it will "get added later".[2]
