Hellbugs are a mutated insect creatures on Earth.

Mutated from a harmless insect species from the Votanis system, samples of these creatures aboard the Arks mutated during the Arkfall disaster creating a dangerous form of life. The Hellbugs are vicious predators that live in large collective hive, usually within underground caverns on the terraformed Earth.
Hellbugs come in variety of forms:
- Skitterlings: The smallest; Baby Hellbugs but are nimble and deadly when attacking in swarms.
- Warriors:
- Archers:
- Monarchs:
- Matron: The Queen of the Hellbug hive.
- Hellion: A rumored breed of Hellbug that is several stories tall and carries an army of smaller Hellbugs within their own bodies.
Though dangerous creatures, the inhabitants of Earth find them a useful resource. Its seems when the Hellbugs consume gulanite ore as a digestive aid, they excrete shtako (waste product) which contains unrefined petrohol.
