The Oblati are a sapient alien race.

According to the alien Ambassador that took residence in Astro City, he explained that the Oblati have a very unusual approach to maturity. It seems their young travel, grow, experiment to form an essence of their identity, and then once they decide who or what they wish to be they subject themselves to a chemical called sorna that transforms them to suit that essence.
