Pandora surface

Welcome to Pandora!

is a barren, desolate world filled with dangerous creatures. The planet's habitable regions appear to derive sunlight indirectly from the reflection of its moon. It's day is 90 hours long and takes ten Earth years to orbit its sun. Pandora was first settled by humans during a winter season, when much of its wildlife was hibernating. After seven earth years, the warming climate in that region has resulted in the native wildlife waking from their hibernation; most are hostile to Pandora's new human settlers.

Life on PandoraEdit

The fauna of Pandora is characterized by its almost universal aggression towards anything entering its' territory. Any intrusion near an animal's home is usually met with immediate attack. There are many forms of complex life; see for details. One common trait among the local fauna is that each species produces "elemental" variants. Some specimens breathe fire or manipulate electricity, while others can spit acid or even cause explosions. There are also a variety of plants on Pandora, although the local flora is sparse in many areas. One of the most common types are plants that resemble cacti, though many also resemble mushrooms.

It appears that in ancient times Pandora was inhabited by the Eridians, a highly evolved and equally mysterious race. Very little is known about this period in time, although their legacy remains in the form of strange ruins and deadly weaponry. In more recent times humanity has begun to colonize and harvest the planet for rare metals and other resources. There are only a handful of human settlements on the surface, most of them built from scrap metal and in desperate need of repair. As a result of using convict labor, most of Pandora's population seems to be psychotic, violent, or both.

Behind the scenesEdit

  • In Greek mythology, Pandora was the first woman. Prometheus stole fire from Mount Olympus and gave it to man, Zeus punished Prometheus by creating Pandora. For fear of additional reprisals, Prometheus warned his brother Epimethius not to accept any gifts from Zeus, but Epimethius did not listen, and married Pandora. Pandora had been given a large jar (Pandora's Box) and instruction by Zeus to keep it closed, but she had also been given the gift of curiosity, and ultimately opened it. When she opened it, all of the evils, ills, diseases, and burdensome labor that mankind had not known previously, escaped from the jar, but it is said, that at the very bottom of her jar, there lay hope.
