Rhyls are a species of furry slug-like organisms with large black eyes. They are sometimes kept as pets by Ba'ku children.
Behind the scenes
While the script for Star Trek: Insurrection described the Rhyl as a colorful cross between a jellyfish and a caterpillar, the creature seen in the final movie bore little to no resemblance to this description.
