The Shadows are an ancient humanoid race and the founders of the huge multi-species space station complex Point Central. Their species once had a proper name and a vast empire, but have long since retreated within their own environmental cell in an abandoned and never-visited area of Point Central; and their existence was forgotten by the rest of the galaxy. They call themselves the Shadows because they perceive themselves as a shadow of what they once were.
