A Skitarii Ranger
The Skitarii, also known as the Legiones Skitarii or Tech-guard, are cyborg soldiers who serve the Adeptus Mechanicus. Although they are equipped and armed similarly to standard human soldiers serving within the Imperium of Man, the Skitarii vary in appearance and equipment depending on the Magos commanding them, the organisation within the Mechanicus they belong to or the planet they originated from.
Variants[]
Hyspasist - The standard Skitarii soldiers, Hyspasists are armed with lasguns and are very similar to standard human soldiers of the Imperial Guard. However, they differ in that they are heavily augmented with cybernetics and may have received emotion-suppression surgery.
Vanguard - Skitarii armed with radium carbines and usually deployed to the most hazardous battlefields, Vanguards are so heavily irradiated by their weaponry that remaining in close proximity can be dangerous. However, this radiation is also known to kill them over time.
Ranger - Skitarii tasked with hunting down and eliminating specific targets, Rangers are known to devote entire decades to hunting individual targets.
Secutarii - Skitarii tasked with 'mopping up' enemy survivors of an attack from a Mechanicus Titan.
Sagitarii - Skitarii operating in squads of heavy-weapon specialists.
Balisteria - Skitarii specialising in the operation of heavy artillery.
Alpha - Skitarii serving as squad leaders, these Skitarii are more heavily augmented than the squads they command.
Protector - Skitarii who serve as bodyguards to tech-priests outside of combat.
Tribunes - Skitarii officers filling low-level leadership roles.
Master of Skitarii - Skitarii brigade commanders.
Sicarians[]
Sicarian Ruststalker
When fatally wounded in battle, Skitarii may receive more dramatic cybernetic augmentations if they are considered to be still capable of fighting, although the head and torso may be all that remains of the original organic body.
Inflitrator - These Sicarians have had their heads almost entirely replaced with a domed helmet which emits static into every sensory spectrum. Anyone exposed to this emission become deafened and blinded, rendering them vulnerable to further attack from Skitarii forces. Other Skitarii are given null codes when deployed with Infiltrators, protecting them from the audiovisual disruption.
Ruststalker - Sicarians utilised as assassins, Ruststalkers are armed with transonic weapons, blades which modify the molecular structure of whatever material they strike to more easily cut through it. Rustalkers are known to move so quickly, their targets often do not initially realise what had been done to them.
