The Synthroid are a race of cybernetic robots that destroyed their original organic creators. In order to power their planet, they tried to capture the Anodite; Verdona who could power their planet for years. The Synthroid they dispatched was stopped by Max Tennyson and Magister Labrid of the Plumbers.
Description
Appearance
The Synthroid are black muscular humanoids with a flat grey face, red, robotic eyes with lines going down them and red lips. They also have a grey plate on their chest with a red circle that has line going down it.
Personality
The Synthroid seem to have no care for living beings and justify their actions with the continued survival of their race, such as kidnapping Verdona and destroying their organic creators.
Powers and Abilities
The Synthroid are incredibly strong and can survive extreme environments. They are capable of self-regeneration through the nanobots which make up their body. If one of their limbs is severed it can move autonomously until it re-attaches itself to the body. The Synthroid that appeared in the episode Moonstruck was able to survive falling into a vat of molten metal. They can also produce energy blasts which can do considerable damage.
Weaknesses
The Synthroid which appeared in Moonstruck was destroyed when Max Tennyson destroyed the energy sphere powering its ship. The ship exploded destroying the Synthroid along with it.
Notes
- The Synthroid appears very similar to many robots from 1950s and 60s Science Fiction. The craft that the Synthroid was flying in bares resemblance to the classic "UFO" design of retro-science fiction.
- The Synthroid also appears to be based on Skynet from the Terminator franchise. Skynet was an artificial intelligence program which gained sentience and took over Earth, using robots very similar to the Synthroid to destroy its organic creators.
- The Synthroid bears a passing resemblance to the Combat Androids of the Alien vs. Predator series, mainly in the facial region.
