RPG Edit

Hi guys. I'm mtmerrick, and I really enjoy your wiki. I've read it a lot, and I use the images a lot too. I'd like to tell you about an text-based RPG I run, which, for lack of a better name when it was created, is simply called Space Wars. It is a Star Trek meets Star Wars Universe, set in the year 3009.

We use the Star Wars timeline, but pushed forward 100 years, so we can factor in the real life timeline, and things that take place in the timeline since Star Trek began having discrepancies with real life, like Lilo and Stitch, and Ben 10.

The Milky Way and the Triangulum Galaxy were destroyed by the Borg, but after the Borg were wiped out, My character, Marik, and a changeling named Raks made a new galaxy, simply called he Great Galaxy. However, the relative peace and stability of the Federation-Republic is being destroyed by the IESA, a faction of Sith, combined with every other bad guy in the local group, and the Anterian ShadowClan, a group of demented aliens from the farthest reaches of the universe, who are out for conquest of the Great galaxy.

You can join the Jedi, Starfleet, the Sith, or even be a space pirate! Any aliens from the Ben 10, Lilo and Stitch (no experiments though), Star Trek, or Star Wars are allowed, or make your own species!

Update? Edit

Anybody else think it's time the main page be updated? There are a lot more quality articles that could be added to that list, and maybe a link to the list of needed articles would be useful...

I'd love to see the main page updated, but unfortunately it seems to be locked and Alien Species Wiki has no active administrators since 2006... Is anybody able to unlock the page? If not, maybe we could bring the problem to wiki central's attention. BlueFrackle 15:05, October 31, 2009 (UTC)
Good news! It seems that the main page has been unlocked; now we can update it anytime BlueFrackle 00:24, January 29, 2010 (UTC)

Its great news no we can really do something here Owen1983 17:16, January 29, 2010 (UTC)

Edit Edit

Hi, i edited the main page's quality articles, i removed some and increased some new ones that are very good. I hope you guys understand - Gobi-Aoi 23:57, 06 February 2010 (UTC).

I like what you have done thanks for heelping out --Owen1983 02:52, February 7, 2010 (UTC).

Gobi – good idea adding a featured article!
I've made some further changes to our main page too: added a brief About us section and many links, including one to the Needed Articles, like Dyga had suggested. I also felt that it needed an image, so I got one. But it's just a placeholder, I hope it will be replaced by a better one someday. Please, everybody, tell me what you thought :) BlueFrackle 01:11, February 8, 2010 (UTC).

I've moved your umage an added the creation bar - Gobi-Aoi 23:28, 09 February 2010 (UTC).

I'm really pleased to see that this wiki is getting some more attention! I love the additions to the main page in paticular. Does anyone know if it would be possible to change the layout? The default theme is more than a little drab... Dyga19 08:04, February 13, 2010 (UTC)

I must admit we have some good quality articles here Owen1983 14:01, February 13, 2010 (UTC)

Quick Question Edit

Recently I've been adding the alien species template to all the articles I've created, and I was wondering how to add smaller images to them. Anybody know how to do that? Dyga19 01:43, February 24, 2010 (UTC)

Hello, Dyga! If you type "" the image will appear in its original size, which is usually quite big. To make it smaller, you have to type "" or "". Hope this helped :)
BlueFrackle 21:59, February 25, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the help, much appreciated!--Dyga19 23:39, February 26, 2010 (UTC)

April's Featured Article Edit

I think it is time to vote on the next featured article, so if you have any suggestions, post it here.

I vote for Xen. -- Dyga19 06:00, March 27, 2010 (UTC)

Obs.: A featured article must have a very good quality!--Gobi-Aoi 15:44, March 26, 2010 (UTC)

User Created Species Edit

I'm noticing there are more and more user generated species on this wiki. I myself am in favor of quality, illustrated (or at least a detailed description), user species. The questions I have are a. what do the rest of you guys think?, and b. if there is a majority in favor of user species, then how should we regulate them? -- Dyga19 16:52, March 2, 2010 (UTC)

I have always considered adding/allowing user-created content to the site, but never wanted to be the first one to start it (as I am a sci-fi writer and I definitely have hundreds upon hundreds of species at my disposal, and I am a humble person and felt it would be selfish of me to begin adding any of them). If it's done, I highly suggest we begin enforcing using a new category, entitled "Category:User Created Content", as that is what I intended for years ago. -- Somarinoa 05:16, March 2, 2010 (UTC)
This discussion has been brought up before a few times, and I think it's time we do an "official" votation. My vote would be yes, users should be allowed to add content created by them. Totally agree that we should have a specific category for these pages, though, perhaps even a specific subcategory for each user. It's also important to inform the reader, so I think we could create a template for that, informing that that is a user-created species and who created it. BlueFrackle 11:56, March 2, 2010 (UTC)
P.S. - Somarinoa: if your sci-fi has been published anywhere, even in a poorly-known local magazine, it deserves a page here, even if we end up voting no for user-created stuff. If George Lucas had an account on Alien Species Wiki we would still have our Star Wars articles :) BlueFrackle 11:56, March 2, 2010 (UTC)
I'm neutral here. Personally, I don't like the idea but won't mind if we have official words to accept them. Just make sure each of them are proper categorized (well, few that keep bugging me are those without info on their origin at all). Oh, and they should be completely seperate from publish species. For example, if a specie is created for Star Wars fanfic then it shouldn't be found on Star Wars species category. Just to avoid confusion. Kuruni 13:00, March 2, 2010 (UTC)

I have noticed this myself they are ok but there has to be a fine line between what is canon and what is user created Owen1983 13:37, March 2, 2010 (UTC)

I've had similar ideas about a user created category. I think it would be a good idea for each user to have their own subcategory, and the template idea is a solid suggestion as well. Also agree with Kuruni on fanfic content. So it looks like we have 4 users in favor, and 1 neutral user. How many active users do we have on this wiki anyway? We should probably put a message on the main page asking everyone to cast their vote. -- Dyga19 16:52, March 2, 2010 (UTC)

I made some user made pages and added self created categories, give a look and comment it: -- Gobi-Aoi 18:09, March 4, 2010 (UTC)
The images are awesome! Did you draw them yourself? BlueFrackle 03:08, March 5, 2010 (UTC)
Why does the Sharon look so familiar to me? Are you on Deviantart, perhaps, and I have seen it/you on there, perhaps? -- Somarinoa 05:03, March 5, 2010 (UTC)

New skin Edit

Could an admin update the skin for this wiki? Maybe to Moonlight? (Click on MORE then Preferences then Skin to preview it) Thanks--Headbursta 23:17, April 18, 2010 (UTC)

I agree. This wiki could really use a better theme; really, anything is better than "stark white". Dyga19 11:35, August 1, 2010 (UTC)

I am happy to say its been changed Owen1983 13:06, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

Combine Wikis?Edit

I'm wondering if anyone else would be interested in combining the Alien Species Wiki and Non-Alien Creatures Wiki into one; an encyclopedia of fictional creatures from mythology, film, literature, and users' imaginations. Thoughts? Dyga19 11:42, August 1, 2010 (UTC)

I actually think they work better as separated entities, one complementing the other. But I do think their both main pages should clearly state that they are sister projects, and include a link to each other. I've been planning of creating some pages for Non-Alien Creatures Wiki for quite a while now, so I'll probably get to do it soon. I hope... BlueFrackle 00:57, August 2, 2010 (UTC)
I think Dyga's got an interesting idea. Category:Actual Universe could cover a lot of those entries, as long as we expand our definition of 'alien' to include 'non-naturally occurring' or anomalous creatures, not just extraterrestials. What's the difference between a demonic looking alien and a demon anyway, especially if you're running in the other direction?:) You guys also might be interested in Monster Wiki.
As for fanfiction I think Alien Fanon Wiki would complement ASW perfectly. Like Alien Species Wiki, Alien Fanon Wiki was also rescued from a lingering death and is growing rapidly! Personally, I always wanted to see these two Wikis as sister projects; Alien Fanon Wiki used exclusively for User created material, while Alien Species Wiki continues to develop as a source of well-researched articles about alien species portrayed in books, comics, TV, movies, and video games.---CadmiumX99 17:16, August 6, 2010 (UTC)
First of all: Hello, Cadmium! I don't recall having talked to you before, so allow me to say welcome to this wiki community :) Second of all: well, in my opinion the other way round makes more sense - we could easily merge this wiki with Alien Fanon; while merging with Non-Alien Creatures could bring the risk of driving us too out of focus and putting aliens on second plane. However, as long as covering alien species continue to be our priority, I do think that at least some non alien creatures could easily fit in this wiki: the insectoid "Elves" from Isaac Asimov's story "Kid Stuff", the genetically created "Dupeys" from an episode of Dilbert, as well as creatures from Gremlins, The Creature of the Black Lagoon and Tremors. Also, as you pointed out, there are cases in which it is difficult to decide whether to call something an alien or not. Where is Fraggle Rock for example? It seems to be another dimension. Would it be sensible referring to the Fraggles as aliens? By the way, I would really like to hear Gobi-Aoi's opinion on this subject, as he is the one who created Non-Alien Creatures Wiki BlueFrackle 18:23, August 6, 2010 (UTC)
Fraggle Rock is on Earth, it is a large part of the series, it just takes place underground or whatever...but don't ask me how those giant monsters have skylines. But they physically walk to Earth on several occasions, and that was a major plot point was that the main Fraggle's uncle disappeared after traveling through some hole in the wall and into "our reality", which first started off with some old guy's shop, with that dog and everything...although I think he still sent letters back, or something. I don't know, it was weird. Anyway, as far as I know they never specifically stated "Fraggle Rock is in another dimension", so it doesn't count as being considered so. Unlike, say, the Rikti, for example, which start out as mysterious aliens at the beginning but later on you discover their true origins, which is still considerably alien. My question would be, however -- what about all the worlds in the Sliders Universe?? Also, Gobi-Aoi did not create the wikia. It was created by Xilentshadow900 and then died in 2006, and then I focused on it and got people to come back, and Gobi took over as leader. Unless Gobi had a name before switching out to Gobi, I am the longest-returning member on the wikia. Most of the concepts (such as scientific hypotheses on species) were my idea, as well, and nearly all pages have been created after my tenure (it was mostly only the Xenomorphs, Yautja, Metroids, Slith & a deleted Deoxys page because Xilentshadow900 apparently thought it was okay to have a wikia based around alien species from various universes but that Pokemon - even ones which were specifically stated as being aliens - were below him and his wikia. Once it was obvious he was never going to return, "we" changed that. =) -- Somarinoa 01:47, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
Hi, look, about the merging of my wiki (Non-alien Creatures Wiki), it is an interesting idea, but all these wiki together would need a huge improvement on the wiki's navigation, right? So, how can we make this? Gobi-Aoi 23:31, August 9, 2010 (UTC)
Hi Blue Frackle, nice to meet you! I'd like to hear Gobi-Aoi's thoughts on this too. There's not many articles on NAC Wiki, so it would be probably be a pretty easy merge. I think it might be interesting to include aliens in the wider context of "The Other", not only space aliens. After all, way before space travel, humans documented encounters with strange visitors and supernatural beasts. There's plenty of 'Terran aliens' for us to document, too. (The Creature from the Black Lagoon is a great example, Doctor Who's Sea Devils, various Atlanteans, Morlocks/Mole People, etc.) What do you think?---CadmiumX99 05:00, August 7, 2010 (UTC)

ASW covers cannon articles but we are open to fanfiction as well and I quite like the idea of a merger betwwn ASW and the AFFW I am keen tho here what others think Owen1983 18:26, August 9, 2010 (UTC)

Cadmium: all these "terran aliens" you mentioned, as well as those I mentioned early would be wonderful additions to ASW's database, but there are some fictional creatures and cryptids which have nothing to do with alien-ness at all. Would you have a page about the Kraken from Pirates of the Caribbean on Alien Species Wiki for example? Even if you say yes, what about the Yeti? Or the Fog Worms (from Primeval)? Or the Loogie Hawk (The Angry Beavers)? I am not necessarily against merging with NAC Wiki, and I'm even coming to like the idea, but I think there is still much to be discussed before we take a decision BlueFrackle 19:22, August 9, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, no creatures that are not even rumored to be aliens have been allowed here. "Clover" from Cloverfield was put here, for whatever reason (I didn't add it), but I never added the Graboids even though I always wanted to be able to because, well, they're not aliens. That beings said, I've no idea what Fog Worms are, nor Loogie Hawks (even though I did watch Angry Beavers, but it's been like a decade now). -- Somarinoa 01:47, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
We actually cover canon (it's canon), deleted material, concept art (when given a name and such), and we have relatively recently begun to accept fanfiction as well. -- Somarinoa 01:47, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
Wow, it's great to be part of such a lively conversation! Would anybody mind if I put a link to Alien Fanon Wiki at the bottom of the Main Page (or wherever seems appropriate)? As far as Alien Species Wiki's canon/ references policy, my biggest issue is the lack of sources cited in articles. For example, the Yautja article has a lot of info that isn't verified and much of it seems to be fan-created. New users wouldn't even need to worry about formatting, just list the source in parentheses (like this). :)---CadmiumX99 02:07, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
I say go for it! As for articles on best-known species like the Yautja, I never do any work on those personally anymore because they are so often edited, even though Xenomorphs, Yautja, Space Pirates and Metroids are my top four favorite alien races (I would say the most in-depth info I've added to the Yautja in these years would be the potential of them being synapsid-equivalents, and I added at least the Kenner aliens if not most of the lesser-known strains of Xenomorph). I nowadays add obscure species, because one of my things about this wikia is I want to see it have as close as humanly possible to EVERY alien race or design ever created, all in one place (After all, who added both the Hulu Aliens and created the Alien Species Gallery? Your's truly!). Unfortunately, most of these species would be extremely hard to reference, because many are so obscure that there isn't a solitary article on them on the net. I could try and make a website specifically to host photographs I take of various things, but that would be a little obnoxious and I'd have to take a lot of photographs from books. In terms of things like the Nilians and the Zirkonian, et cetera, I am so obsessed with this concept "of mine" that it actually dominates my life; alien species is the selling point to just about anything for me. Most of the stuff I put down, I have direct knowledge of and am stating directly off of a book, a toy, the knowledge from directly after watching a movie everyone hated (again, see Nilians and Zirkonians lol), and some are from like 50 year old movies and such. In those cases, I wish I could take more screenshots but my new computer locks the accursed Printscreen button if I have the DVD player open. It is extremely obnoxious. That going, I can certainly tell you anything I put down I have either researched or have first-hand just-watched/read it knowledge haha. -- Somarinoa 02:55, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
Hi Somarinoa! Nice to see you (well, I'm not seeing you, but you know what I mean...) I'd just like to clear up some points: 1- I didn't say Gobi created Alien Species Wiki, I said he created Non-Alien Creatures Wiki, if anyone has created ASW the way it is today, this one is you; 2 – Fraggle Rock is rumored to be interdimensional because it seems to link together the Human world and the Gorgs world; 3 – The Loogie Hawk is from the episode "The Loogie Hawk" (hmm...) which is third season I think, and you can read about Fog Worms here [1] BlueFrackle 15:05, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
Whoa, didn't think this would get so much attention, but I'm glad it did. I've always wished there was a place that had information of every creature from every source imaginable in one place. My idea is to merge the ASW and the NACW (and possibly other wikis as well) into a sort of Bestiary of the Mind. Every being ever imagined by humanity, all in one place. My biggest concern is how we would go about merging the wikis; would we have to manually copy all content onto the largest wiki? Is there some way of doing it automatically?Dyga19 11:39, August 11, 2010 (UTC)
I have checked out Alien Fanon Wiki I have seen some article that would be great here howether IMHO we should remain separate but we could adopt AFW as a sister project Owen1983 14:51, August 11, 2010 (UTC)
So, is the general consensus that ASW and NACW should remain separate? Dyga19 07:22, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

new wiki Edit

I have decided on a new wiki that will combine articles from the ASW and AFW Owen1983 11:26, August 10, 2010 (UTC)

First of all, Owen, you might want to coordinate with the admin of Alien Fanon Wiki before you start making any big decisions like that. Second, it's always better to build a consensus among contributors, which seems to be developing nicely on its own! Owen, like you and Somarinoa, User:Nightmare 76 and I worked hard to bring Alien Fanon Wiki back from the brink and hopefully make it into something unique. I'm sure you guys understand if I'm a little protective about it! :) One of my concerns with your idea is that articles might not be properly sourced. Not a huge problem with the 'canon' stuff, as long as someone's doing the research, but a real problem if fanfic creators aren't credited for their creations. Although my original thought also involved moving articles across wikis , I realize now that it might do more harm then good, if not done with care. Besides, you guys do a fine job with the fanfiction articles. I'd be happy with a link on the Main Page or an 'Official Friends of' or 'Affiliates' tag. In the end, creating a new wiki that just repeats information from other wikis isn't helpful or necessary in this case. The idea is to create a wiki with its own perspective on a topic and make it a cool place to hang out and build a sense of community. The discussion's going along well, so there's no need for any big decisions just yet. Thanks for listening.---CadmiumX99 16:12, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
PS Have you guys tried this yet? There's lots of skins to choose from. (We use the Moonlight skin at AFW, which would look great here, too!)---CadmiumX99 16:20, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
Choosing a new skin is an excellent idea to improve the wiki look and we should have done it already. Moonlight would be my choice too! It would also be nice to have a new image on the Main Page, instead of the deplorable one we have now and which I am sorry to say that I am the one who created it... My original idea was to get together images of many aliens, to represent the variety of universes this wiki covers. But then I found out that I am not very skilled when it comes to computer images, so I did this cheesy montage, which I think kind of represents the four "pillars" of alien species: comedy (ALF), soft sci-fi (Star Trek), hard sci-fi (Alien) and exobiology (Darwin IV). There's also ufology, but I couldn't find a quality image of Greys... BlueFrackle 21:36, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
That's cool Frackle, I appreciate the symbolism! I've got a little Main Page type experience, so I'd like to help out if I can. :)---CadmiumX99 02:24, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

Main Page Change Edit

Hey everybody! Hope you don't mind, I took a shot at organizing the Main Page! Tell me what you think...Now if we could just get Owen or Somarinoa to change the skin..(HINT, HINT) :D---CadmiumX99 20:12, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks Cadmium, it looks so much better! Now all we need is a new skin and a new image, when we get one. You can also add AFW to the related wikis part, I think we're all agreed on that point, I'll also ask the folks on Sci-Fi Wiki if they mind being listed too BlueFrackle 21:05, August 11, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks BlueFrackle! Gobi and Dyga, hope you don't mind me making something up for NAC Wiki.:)---CadmiumX99 02:05, August 12, 2010 (UTC)
The new layout looks good. The NAC logo looks cool by the way Cadmium. Somebody pretty please change the layout though? Dyga19 05:38, August 12, 2010 (UTC)
Hey, that's the Yeti image I used when I created the Yeti article on NACW! Cool! :) BlueFrackle 18:19, August 12, 2010 (UTC)
Love me some Yeti!---CadmiumX99 04:31, August 13, 2010 (UTC)
Is that why we have the absolutely horrible update to the page editing system? It's as horrible as all the other wikias now. I detest having to hit the source code button every accursed time I want to edit something. Ugh... It will also make it more difficult for me to reach the categories page without knowing the actual name of the page. Also, doing the four tildes thing doesn't seem to be posting my name, so what's with that? I'm hoping it's just a weird error with my machine. -- 23:14, August 13, 2010 (UTC)
Good Wikia Style

I dislike the useless "preview" window that always loads first more than I could possibly tell you.

Is there any way I can return to having the edit page just being the source file, like the image to the right? I enjoy the skin, I just cannot stand having to click the darn source button all the time. It makes me edit significantly less. -- Somarinoa 23:22, August 13, 2010 (UTC) unfortunatly all wikis have this but if you ad to many images its disabled I cant understand why they kept the old page style Owen1983 22:10, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

I agree its looks Great Edit

it looksnice rhanks for doing this btw dyga I am glad you suggested a new skin becuase the one we had was awful Owen1983 10:09, August 12, 2010 (UTC)

Glad you like it, Owen! It's pretty easy for an admin to change the skin (see instuctions above). BTW I noticed the Wimr article was added without acknowledging its creator. I'll work on some Template:Alien Fanon Wiki templates that might help both wikis, in the meantime please don't add AFW's fanfic articles without the author's permission. Thanks!---CadmiumX99 15:12, August 12, 2010 (UTC)

Just what I had in mind Edit

I think its a swell idea Owen1983 00:59, August 13, 2010 (UTC)

List of articles to be relocatedEdit

If we're going to keep ASW and NACW separate, then we should probably create a stricter definition of what articles should be on this wiki. I know that it's reserved for aliens, but how are we defining alien? Beings and species from more sci-fi oriented media, specifically those not native to the world or setting described? Alien technically means a foreigner or outsider, and that could potentially be applied to many creatures. There are also many creatures from sci-fi media that aren't aliens. After we better define "alien", I propose we create a list of articles that should be relocated to NACW, like Clover. Dyga19 07:22, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

Hello Dyga! My humble opinion is that any species, character, etc should be allowed here as long as it is:
A – alien (i.e. not originating from Earth, not even an alternative timeline Earth) or depicted as an alien in at least one work of fiction;
B – rumored to be alien by a significant number of people, either in real life or in a work of fiction;
C – not an alien, but has interacted significantly with aliens, either in real life (those who claim to have been abducted or whatever) or in a work of fiction;
D – a fictional, but non-alien creature coming from a work of fiction which heavily features aliens (such as the Silurians from Dr. Who).
NACW would then include any fictional or rumored creature which does originate from Earth, including alternative versions of Earth. Of course some creatures, Silurians included, would be covered on both wikis! Any thoughts??? BlueFrackle 16:02, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

In my view non extra terrestrial creature who have a link to science fiction would be included in both wikis but there should be a rule that if a non extra terrestrial species is mentioned in science fiction its included however Dyga19 proposed a list which of non alien creatures I think we need something like that--Owen1983 13:25, September 1, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry to resurrect this 2.5 year-old topic, but I believe we need to have a clear definition of "alien" written on ASW:Rules or ASW:Policy or ASW: Editing Conventions. Here are my ideas:
1 - A species that did not originate on the human homeworld. In most universes the human homeworld is Earth. An alien species' origin can be another planet, another dimension or space itself.
2 - A fictional species that originated on Earth but appeared in a TV series or book series that features more than a dozen actual alien species.
In my opinion, every species should have a separate page, so ArachniLobsters, Behemoths, Gray Widowers, Pterobuzzards, Scorpion-Flies and Tentacles should each have their own page. The Reavers and Eloi pages should be deleted because they are not aliens and they both exist in a universe where there are no aliens. NetSpiker (talk) 14:15, May 11, 2013 (UTC)
Topic has been discussed to death, and resolved. Yes every species should (and will) have its own page. Species from absurdly distant futures (more than 2-3 thousand years in the future) are allowed because there has been enough time for the earth to change (this also counts for universes in which there has been catastrophic changes to earth such as defiance. . . the world must become alien to what we know). And I think a "dozen" is too many. Also reavers are totally alien, they are a species descended from humanity that live on different worlds. We also include affiliations here . . . ralok (talk) 14:57, May 11, 2013 (UTC)
I've looked through all of the community pages and I didn't see this being "discussed to death" or "resolved" anywhere. The ASW: Editing Conventions page says that non-alien species can be included if they are part of a universe that already has aliens. This means that demons, werewolves and wendigos would have to be included because they all exist in the Marvel Universe, which has lots of aliens. In fact, the Marvel Universe has so many non-alien species that if we include them all, we would be indistinguishable from the Non Alien Creature Wiki. That's why I tried to come up with a different definition.
A "TV series with a dozen different alien species" would include the Silurians from Doctor Who and the Voth from Star Trek Voyager. A "book series with a dozen different alien species" would include the Clan Ru from the Star Trek TOS novels and the Neyel from the Star Trek Titan novels. Here's another definition with the same effect:
A fictional species that originated on Earth but always appears together with actual aliens.
Every Doctor Who story and every Star Trek story has at least one alien, so this definition works.
The Reavers are not "totally alien" and they are not "a species descended from humanity". They are simply insane (non-mutated) humans. And speaking of humans, why does this wiki have a Human page, a Men page and a Nord page? NetSpiker (talk) 01:06, May 12, 2013 (UTC)
Reavers are mutated . . . have you not seen the film serenity? As for "men" that is for a large group of human-like sapients from the planet nirn in the elder scrolls universe, nords are a variant of them. As well I can personally confirm that the number of aliens in the marvel universe outnumbers its terrestrial species. And by your rule (which sucks) we couldnt include any species from Defiance (the majority of which are alien) since there are less than a dozen. As for where it has been discussed, I actually created a blog post on what is appropriate content. ralok (talk) 01:58, May 12, 2013 (UTC)
Non-aliens are perfectly accepted here as long as they are relevant. Humans are relevant because in all science fiction (with rare exceptions) they are featured and interact with aliens, often being part of some galactic community of some kind. The Silurians from Doctor Who or the Atlanteans from DC are depicted among the many intelligences of the galaxy in their respective universes and that makes them relevant regardless of being Earth-based. Finally, it has been extensively discussed and decided by consensus that even some non-alien species featured in works which are not alien focused (e.g. Reavers, Eloi and Morlocks, Graboids, etc...) are also relevant to science fiction and should be kept. -- BlueFrackle (talk) 03:37, May 12, 2013 (UTC)
So basically, there are no rules. You add whatever you like and you justify it by saying it's "relevant to science fiction", whatever that means. Even though there's a perfectly good Non Alien Creatures Wiki and there's no clear boundary between science fiction and fantasy. Am I the only one who has a problem with this? NetSpiker (talk) 04:59, May 12, 2013 (UTC)
You have to understand that while ASW has been around for seven years, NACW is much younger. Also, for many of the early years ASW had no admin at all. In terms of policies, we are still a young wiki and some things are still being tested, decided and reconsidered. If you have a proposal you are very much welcomed to submit it to ASW:Policy Decisions. Think well about exactly what you wish to see changed and think well about your arguments. By the way, you will see that our most recent decision has been just about the proposed deletion of the Eloi article -- BlueFrackle (talk) 13:04, May 12, 2013 (UTC)

Someone good on english Edit

Hi, i'm not THAT good on english so i'm asking if someone can fix the article SIGNS humanoid aliens?--Gobi-Aoi 12:29, September 16, 2010 (UTC)

I am good at English so I will take a look at it --Owen1983 14:17, September 17, 2010 (UTC)

Naming conventions Edit

should this be official policy thoughts anyone --Owen1983 16:34, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

custom Oasis designEdit

i think we should have a custom design than the default design , admins use the Special:ThemeDesigner feature. --Linkdarkside 00:21, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

For anime fans Edit

Hey, new wiki for anime fans Anime Universes Wiki (a.k.a anime worlds wiki)--Gobi-Aoi 17:32, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

S.O.S. Edit

So we need some volunteers to help out at Non-Alien Creatures wiki. There are about 60 pages, not all of them creatures, and ther's still tons more to add. I'd also like to propose some kind of "to be relocated to NAC wiki" category for articles that don't belong on Alien Species Wiki. Just add that category to a page that doesn't belong, and soon we'll have a whole list of what to relocate. That would help organize this wiki, while at the same time boost the number of articles at NAC.

If you plan on helpint out at NAC wiki, please check out the list of needed articles on the main page. Add any appropriate universes & creatures you feel should have articles. Thoughts, responses? Dyga19 08:32, November 20, 2010 (UTC)

New featured article? Edit

I'm gonna start making a poll at the end of every month for a new featured article. I'd like people to make suggestions for next month. I'll take the best and most informative suggestions, everyone can vote, and then we won't have to stare at the ugly snout of a Moorwen every time we enter the site. Insurgence: Like the Phoenix I rise again! {ADMIN} 16:41, June 12, 2011 (UTC)

I've made a draft poll on my Userpage, under 'Miscellanious'. Should I put it up? HolbenilordTalk 11:28, December 16, 2011 (UTC)

Zeist TemplateEdit

WHY IS THIS WIKI AUTOMATICALLY CHOOSING THE DIALOGUE FOR INFOBOX TEMPLATES AS THAT FOR SOME HIGHLANDER STUFF?!!!

That's the example the coder chose to use- we have to code them ourselves. We could probably put a new code set in. Holbenilord 12:33, June 18, 2011 (UTC)

Then how come when I changed the code, it automatically undid the changes when I published them?! TroopDude

The template wasn't coded right. >_>
I'll try to fix it. But you should use Template:AlienSpecies for that stuff anyways. The MarioGalaxy2433g5 {talk/contribs} 15:31, June 18, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, mate. TroopDude

Comments Edit

To the admin of this wiki: can you please enable comments on this wiki, or enable comments on the article Space Dragon Empire (Draconizica) ? the reason I am asking is because I want to know what people think of the article.

The way things work on ASW admins alone can't decide on policy the community votes on it herefirst if the the idea is populer the admins will implement it however all users can declare amendmants to policy. --Owen1983 15:24, October 17, 2011 (UTC

Hi all,

I have issue about the sponsored links on this site the other links are okay except the end times is here link since all this 2012 doomsday stuff has been debunked and is untrue all that's happening is an ancient calander ending,no doomsday or any of that stuff. So please remove the link

Thank you.

My own...Edit

Could i add some species of aliens that i created for my comic i made? it is homemade, but it is a full species. Please reply>Tayd0gta (talk) 17:52, May 10, 2014 (UTC)

Sorry, but that would be against our policy. Unless your comic has been published somewhere, we can't have it. But there are other options available, for instance: you could write a wiki blog post about your species, or feature them in your userpage, or add them to our sister project, Extraterrestrial Fanon Wiki, where they would be very much welcome :) -- BlueFrackle (talk) 18:29, May 10, 2014 (UTC)

Can I steal your templates for my project?
