Tallon IV is home to an abandoned Chozo colony. When the Chozo arrived, they decided to have more contact with nature rather than technology; through these means, all their structures were rock based, while existing trees were used to create bridges between locations. Unfortunately, they eventually predicted that that a meteorite that "carried the unholy worm" would soon crash into the planet and doom it. With this, they could only hope that their species' "newborn", Samus Aran, would someday come and clean away the disaster. The meteorite eventually landed, bringing with it the deadly mutagenic substance known as Phazon, which corrupted the native creatures.
