The Trunksucker is a small ray-like creature that glides through Darwin IV's forests and clings to Plaque-bark Trees, sucking their nutrient-rich sap. "Similar to Earth's woodpeckers they fly, they land on the trunk of a tree, prop themselves up with their tails and take fluid from the tree".

- The first dead creature that the probes find on Darwin IV is in fact a Trunksucker, most likely killed by a Daggerwrist.
