The Yapi were a species of sapient canoids indigenous to the planet Kathol. Although indigenous they were not natural, having been created by Kathol's supercomputer, DarkStryder, who considered them a successful warrior-guardian servant race. Despite this they would eventually develop a society and culture, albeit it chaotic with numerous factions forming and collapsing; some tribes kept fealty to their creator while others opposed the being, leading to inter-tribal warfare. Between these wars would come the occasional period of peace, allowing the tribes time to exchange of information and trade.
They were a superstitious lot and believed that usage of the Ta-Ree life energy was only able to be done by tribe's shaman.
Background history[]
Moff Kentor Sarne would come to ally with the Darkstryder. When the FarStar's crew subsequently arrived to deal with him, many Yapi chose to lend their assistance. They would also ally with both the Char Ontee and the Zizimaak, despite that the latter considered them a food source.
