Zebesians are one of the races/sub-types of the Space Pirates. Although they did not originate from Zebes, this species simply adopted the name after conquering the planet.

Due to the genetic variety displayed by the Space Pirates, it remains unknown if the Zebesians are a separate species allied with them, members of the same species having been genetically modified for optimal efficiency on Zebes or simply a sub-species of the primary Space Pirate species. (If one exists).
Zebesians display both avian and crustacean traits, such as the beak-like mandibles and their pincer-like claws, in which they house their weaponry.
During both incidents in which the bounty hunter Samus Aran fought this species on Zebes, the latter of which ended with the destruction of the planet, the Zebesians have attempted to weaponize the metroid species under the command of Mother Brain. After the destruction of Zebes, the Galactic Federation was discovered by Aran to have cloned the wildlife of Zebes and converted several Zebesians ino cyborgs to be used as bioweapons, which fell under the command of MB, Mother Brain restored in the form of an artificial intelligence, and a clone of Ridley. Afterwards, several Zebesians aboard a Federation research facility orbiting SR388 became infected by the X-Parasite.
